Our method.
The Marriage Knot focuses on intense training designed to help couples learn to communicate and connect with one another. Already believe you communicate and connect with your spouse? We believe you will walk away with a deeper skill that will secure your marriage for a lifetime. Couples jump into marriage without training on how to live and co-exist in all aspects of life together. Whether or not you believe God brought you both together, we believe whatever challenge your marriage is facing, God will guide you through it, but you need the correct skills along the way.
The Marriage Knot is not designed to be counseling - it is designed to instruct and train couples to communicate and connect with each other using the skills developed through 20+ years of experience in the field of counseling couples and individuals. While regular counseling sessions are very beneficial, the Marriage Knot takes advantage of the concentrated time spent with couples to teach and train communication and connecting skills, while simultaneously practicing these new skills with your spouse and two licensed therapists.
The Marriage Knot meets the needs of couples through their level of crisis in the marriage, along with the availability to step away from life to focus on the marital relationship. This is a life-changing experience and it only makes sense to invest in one of the most important decisions of your life, your marriage.
Intensive Weekend
INDIVIDUAL COUPLE SETTING
The Intensive is designed for the individual couple to feel safe and open to addressing serious needs without worrying about others present. The experience allows a more concentrated focus on the specific needs and struggles of the couple.
GROUP COUPLE SETTING AVAILABLE
The Intensive can also benefit multiple couples at one. You might be hesitant to engage in this process with other couples, but there are many things you can learn amongst others. These include some normalcy and insight through others’ growth. When available, this group setting offers the intensive at a lower price.
INTENSE EXPERIENCE
You will be spending a concentrated amount of time reflecting, deconstructing, talking, listening, and focusing on one another. This set-up allows for the both of you to move through the ups and downs of communication and relating in the presence of two therapists (Drs. Bryan and Susan Duncan). The time is intended to specifically train you and your spouse to communicate with each another within the unique make-up of your relationship. It is up to the both of you to continue this intensity during your solo time together and outside of daily training (lunch and dinner are free time for you both).
SCHEDULE
The Intensive begins on Thursday or Friday at 2:00pm. This gives travel time for arrival.
Day One: 2:00pm - 7:00pm
Day Two: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Day Three: 9:00am - 4:00pm
20+ hours of direction instruction and discussion with Drs. Bryan and Susan Duncan. Light breakfast and drinks provided, as well as snacks/drinks throughout the day.
ACCOMMODATIONS
The Intensive is currently hosted at our offices in downtown Bryan, Texas (100 mi to Houston; 160 mi to Dallas; 100 mi to Austin; 160 mi to San Antonio). This location offers an opportunity for individuals to be secluded away from day-to-day responsibilities and enjoy a private retreat. We have lowered our prices to make this affordable for those who might be traveling from out of town.
WORKBOOK OF MATERIALS
You will be provided a workbook that contains much of the material discussed and allows you to follow along during presentations. You may write notes, jot questions, and keep this book to help you continue your journey in your marriage following the sessions. Pens/Pencils and notepads will be provided.
FOLLOW-UP
Included in the experience that is generally unique to our Intensive is the opportunity for follow-up individual/couples’ sessions. We are offering a package of SIX sessions, couples’ or individual, within the six months that follow your MK Intensive. Research shows emotion-focused therapy becomes more successful after 6 months. We want to be available for you as you both continue to strengthen your marriage. These are intended to be reminders of what was learned and how to apply the skills in your marriage. This is not a substitute for counseling. Unused sessions will not be reimbursed.

$3,000 ($3,500 w/ 6 follow-up sessions)
$2,000 (TWO COUPLES)
$1,500 (THREE COUPLES)
This is equivalent to 20 hours of service at the rate of $150/hour with two therapists.
*A deposit of $1,500 is required to schedule your reservation, with $500 of the deposit as non-refundable. The full balance of the Intensive is due upon arrival or before. Cancellations: Any cancellations within two weeks of the scheduled Intensive will result in the loss of your full deposit.
Marital Workshop
GROUP SETTING
The Workshops are hosted in a group setting. This might seem intimidating because you will be addressing private, personal, and possibly hurtful content about each other. Research shows and reinforces the power of a group to create a deeper understanding and growth. The more you put into this experience, the more your relationship strengthens and heals, as well as those in your group. There is power in healing with others.
INTENSE EXPERIENCE
You will be spending a concentrated amount of time reflecting, deconstructing, talking, listening, and focusing on one another during this 8-week workshop with Drs. Bryan and Susan Duncan. This 2 1/2 hour time is intended to specifically train you and your spouse, in a group setting so couples can learn from each other and create a sense of “not alone in this” struggle. It is up to the both of you to continue this intensity during your time together and outside of weekly training.
SCHEDULE
The Workshop is scheduled for 2.5 hours each week over the course of 8 weeks. Overall, you will experience 20+ hours of direct service from Drs. Bryan and Susan Duncan.
LOCATION
The Workshop is hosted in our office in downtown Bryan, Texas. Those who want to travel from the various areas in Texas (100 mi to Houston; 160 mi to Dallas; 100 mi to Austin; 160 mi to San Antonio) can secure accommodations in the area.

Marriage Seminars*
GROUP SETTING
Seminars are typically hosted by organizations/businesses/churches/non-profits in their area. We come to you, and you host the group and determine the size of participants. The more the merrier. The group setting affords many opportunities to grow as a couple and get to know other couples, as well. Imagine groups of marriages succeeding together and what that can do for your community. If you would like a seminar for other types of groups, such as mother/daughter, father/son, team building in communication, please contact us.
LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Seminars do not have the same intensity as our other services. It is not a simple retreat to relax, but there are many opportunities to learn and transform your marriage into something stronger than when you started. We want you to learn how to make your relationship better, more complete, and connected like never before. You must come with a desire to learn and grow your marriage from good to great.
SCHEDULE
Schedules can vary as each seminar is tailor-made to meet the needs of your group. The price for this seminar includes a presentation for Friday (2-3 hours) and all day on Saturday (6-7 hours). If wanting more time, this can be discussed based on availability.
LOCATION
You determine the location. We will travel anywhere necessary to bring a message of hope and connection to marriages in your community. You can make the seminar exclusive to your organization or you can open it up even more to the community.
FOLLOW-UP
Due to this experience focusing on enrichment, if you are seeking any follow-up, we suggest you participate in either our Intensive or Workshop if needing more serious work on your marriage.
